Khaleda Zia contracts coronavirus, confirms Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday confirmed that party Chairperson Khaleda Zia has tested positive for coronavirus.

“Her (Khaleda’s) physical condition is now stable. The report of her sample provided to the ICDDR,B on Saturday came positive,” said Fakhrul in a press briefing held at party’s Gulshan office on Sunday afternoon.

He also sought doa from the country people.

Earlier, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

But, at that time, her private physician Dr Mamun, said that the BNP Chairperson did not give swab samples for Covid-19 test on Saturday.

Mirza Fakhrul did not reply to journalists about how come Khaleda Zia got infected with the virus despite her stay at home ensuring all safety measures and keeping isolation.

According to a reliable source, a close relative along with his family met Khaleda at her Gulshan residence last week.

The wife of that relative tested positive for coronavirus a day later.

Later, at least four aides of the BNP Chairperson contracted Covid-19. Then Khaleda’s private physicians took initiative to test her sample.

But, it could not be known when and where Khaleda’s sample was taken for the virus test.
